If the #Orient Express is out of your price range, don’t worry #North Yorkshire has its very own alternative.

For all those #Train enthusiasts out there, this is a fantastic experience. The #NYMR , #Pickering to #Grossmont #dining experience. Step back in time when silver service was the norm, trains had beautiful velvet seats and were powered by coal.

We were lucky enough to secure an evening booking on this historic train, on a beautiful #September evening. We were met at the entrance to our carriage named #JOS DE CRAU and shown our table.

The table was beautifully laid with crisp white table linen and shiny cutlery. We were treated to a beautiful 4 course meal accompanied by #NYMR own labelled wine. Once you’ve booked your tickets you pre-choose your #menu.

Dinner is served at a leisurely pace while the train gently chugs along the old rail track through the stunning #North Yorkshire Moors

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff as they provide silver service and answer to everyone’s needs. Just to add to their pressure #Channel 5 were on board filming! So keep an eye out on the next series we may even be on it!

It was a thoroughly relaxing and special dining experience reminiscent of a #bygone era

Now obviously as you’re more than likely going to enjoy a few bottles of wine while on board you really don’t want to be driving home.

There are various places in Pickering to pitch up. For £12.00 per night you can have an overnight stay at the #Big Bear Bikes , they have a small car park at the rear of the shop with water & waste facilities and only a few hundred yards from the Station. So perfectly placed to stagger back after your #dining experience

Alternatively, if you want to make a weekend of it there’s #Uppercarr caravan Park approx. 1 mile out of Pickering.

#Pickering is a quaint little #North Yorkshire town with plenty of independent gift shops & cafes. For all you #GIN lovers, we found The Wonky Pitcher Cellar , which had a magnificent display of #Gins in amazing bottles, definitely one to explore!

You may also want to consider combining the #Dining experience with #Pickering’s 1940’s weekend. This is a spectacle not to be missed. A Wartime Weekend which is held every #October and includes a full programme of WW11 and 1940’s themed entertainment and events.

#Pickering is defiantly a little gem of a town with an abundance of history, worth a weekend road trip.
